We have home-made rain barrels for sale, just in time for the upcoming showers and elevated water restrictions. These are 55 gallon plastic drums that stored car wax in their previous life. In this life, they have been well rinsed and affixed with a spigot and screen top. We offer these to anyone interested at $50 each. First come, first serve, we have limited supply at this point, but will continue to make them to meet the drought demands.

how can we get one? we've been checking at state surplus for drums like that, but they've been out for two weeks and we're missing out on all this lovely rain!

I use plastic trash barrels with a screen cover in my school garden (under a broken gutter)- too ugly to use at home but works great. On nice days students can duck water cans into the barrel and help "harvest" water. Logan's are $100 bucks - glad there is an alternative.
I love this blog (found you through Raleigh Eco News)and will put it on the blogroll of my new project ASAP - at www.raleighnature.com
